Hennessey Venom GT Specs, Features, Price and Release Date

Texas based Hennessey Performance Engineering company started the production of the Venom GT way back in 2011 and was continued till 2017. During that period, overall 13 units of the car was produced, which includes 7 coupes and 6 spyders. Based on the Lotus Elise and the Exige, this car’s successor is the Hennessey Venom F5.

The Venom GT was responsible for various world records, including Guinness World Record for fastest production car in the world in 2013. The Venom GT definitely left its mark on the mind of the consumers before the talk of the Venom F5 came into existence.

Hennessey Venom GT Specifications

Talking about basic specifications, the car has a length of 183.7 inches, width of 77.2 inches, height of 44.7 inches, wheelbase of 110.2 inches and a curb weight of 2743lbs or 1244 KG. The Venom GT has a power to weight ratio of 1KG per horsepower.

It comes with a twin-turbocharged 7 litre GM LSX engine, which produces 1244 BHP at 6600 RPM, and 1155 ft of torque at 4400 RPM. The engine can be outputted at three settings – 800, 1000, 1200 BHP, raving to 7200 RPM. The engine is connected to the rear wheels by a 6-speed manual transmission from Ricardo.

Also the brakes used in this car are from Brembo – 6 piston callipers on the front and 4 in the back, with each rotor being 15 inches in diameter.

Hennessey Venom GT Top Speed:The Venom GT is claimed to do 0-60 MPH in just 2.4 seconds, 100 MPH in 4.4 seconds and 200 MPH in 12.8 seconds. The top speed is claimed to be in excess of 280 MPH.

The Venom GT’s chassis is a heavily modified chassis from the Lotus Elise and Exige. It uses various components from them, like – doors, roof, side glass, cockpit, windscreen, wipers, head lamps, etc. Even though the Venom GT uses chassis components from Lotus, Hennessey is not associated with them by any means.

The Venom GT has a carbon fibre body as well as carbon fibre wheels as well. There are softer surfaces for the upper dash of the interiors, there are carpeted floors along with leather surfaces, fully racing based steering wheel, and has carbon fibre inserts on the door panel as well. There’s also a roll cage as well.

Hennessey released various variants of the Venom GT. This includes the Venom GT Spyder, which is an open top version of the Venom GT. This variant added 30 lbs more to the base version of the car.

Then the Venom GT “World’s Fastest Edition” variant was released in 2014, which was a coupe and was only produced at just 3 units. It was sold for $1.25 million.

Finally, the Venom GT “Final Edition” was launched in 2017 marking the end of 6 years production of the Venom GT. The vehicle was sold for $1.2 million.

As it is mentioned before, the last version of the Venom GT was sold for $1.2 million. Normally, the price of Venom GT goes for $1 million.

Release Date

As of today, Hennessey has stopped making any such production for the Venom GT. Its successor Venom F5 is on the way shortly.


The Venom GT held its own place for so many years, and finally it came to an end, only to be replaced by the so powerful Venom F5. The Venom GT looked and performed so great, that it built its own legacy and cracked so many world records. It was Hennessey’s one of the most successful products, and it’s expected that the Venom F5 will do so the same, in the exact manner.
