2020 Infiniti Q50 Concept, Design and Rumors

The 2019 Q50 is already available now, so it’s obvious that people have started talking about the next model. It also makes sense because the next model, namely 2020 Inifiniti Q50, is expected to come with a highly refreshed design and offer much better features than the current model.

But just about how better it can be from the current model? Well, we don’t know for sure as details are still scarce about it, but we can certainly share with you whatever we know about this upcoming sedan. Let’s begin:

2020 Infiniti Q50 Concept and Design

The design of 2020 Infiniti Q50 may be inspired from Q Inspiration Concept revealed at this year’s Detroit Motor Show. It’s a design that’s staunch yet minimalist, nostalgic yet futuristic. Hence, it makes perfect sense to adopt it for 2020 replacement of Q50 Sedan.

The curvaceous front of Q Inspiration Concept flaunts a big, imposing grille and slim, inner-filled LED headlights. On the sides there’s a diagonal fender crease, as well as Daylight Opening Area (DLO) similar to Tesla Model S. The back of car stands out with brawny haunches. Overall it’s a design that can give its German counterparts a run for their money.

2020 Infiniti Q50 Rumors

If Q Inspiration Concept is indeed turned into 2020 Q50 production model, expect it to come with company’s latest Varied Compression Turbocharged (VC-T) technology.

The varied compression ratio of Inspiration Concept is 8:0:1 to 14:0:1, which allows it to shift quickly between high boost-low compression and low boost-high compression modes. There’s no reason why Infiniti would not want to make this great thing a part of 2020 Q50 sedan. The feature gives you best of both words, without compromising on efficiency.

As far as powertrain is concerned, the 3-liter twin turbo engine found in Red Sport 400 may be installed in 2020 Q50 as well, without any major improvements. That’s all we know about it for now.

2020 Infinity Q50, when launched, will compete against some of the most popular sedans which are sold by their names alone. They include BMW 3 Series, Mercedes Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XE, Volvo S60 and Lexus IS. All these cars are bought largely by loyal customers of their brands, so things won’t be easy for Infiniti despite launching 2020 Q50 with this appealing design.

The Japanese car brand will have to provide an offering with lots of features and better powertrain to win over these guys. It will be very interesting to see how Infiniti does that.
