Aston Martin redesigned the DB9 and changed its name to DB11 and the popularly known Vantage model. Now as time passed by, Aston Martin has released a replacement for the Vanquish S. Like the DB9, the Vanquish name was retired back in the 1960s. Now, it’s time to meet the 2019 Aston Martin DBS.
Totally built upon the DB11, this 2019 DBS is much lighter and powerful too. It has a weight of 3733 pounds, which is about 160 pounds less than the DB11. The GT version is more aggressive by its design, and will almost touch that supercar category. This is due to its low slung design and the low ground clearance as well. It also pays a homage to the most well-known DB4 and DB5. So, without further ado, let’s see what the 2019 Aston Martin DBS has in store for us.
2019 Aston Martin DBS Engine And Specifications
The power to the 2019 DBS is provided by the twin-turbo, 5.2-liter V-12 engine that Aston Martin had debuted in the DB11. But, the unit was revised to give out a more powerful setup, now generating 725 PS and 900 Nm of torque. This converts to 715 BHP and 664 pound-feet of torque. That is indeed a good 123 BHP and 199 pound-foot increase over the aging Vanquish S. It’s also an extra 115 BHP and 148 pound-feet compared to the DB11.
Every inch of that power runs to the rear wheels through a revised version of the company’s eight-speed automatic transmission. This enables the GT variant to hit 0-62 MPH in an amazing 3.4 seconds. That’s is like 1/5 quicker than the Vanquish S and a half-second faster than the DB11. Also, the 2019 DBS charges from 50-100 MPH, in fourth gear, in just 4.2 seconds. That is indeed very much power, to say the least.
The top speed is also slated to be increased to 211 MPH, which is 10 MPH more than the Vanquish S and precisely 11 MPH more than the DB11. The drive train can be used in three dynamic modes. The GT model also provides that very much comfortable GT ride with smooth shifting. While the Sports setting gives it more power. The Sports Plus mode is the most aggressive setup of the DBS, enabling one of the quickest sprints and a race-inspired exhaust note. Fuel Efficiency is around 22MPG, which is fairly good and efficient.
2019 Aston Martin DBS Features And Interior
The 2019 DBS is a departure from the usual outgoing Vanquish. Instead, it’s more built like the DB11. The design cues are almost similar here. If we talk about the size, then it will be smaller than the Vanquish. Also, the 2019 DBS will be made via carbon fibre body, which will give it more agility but still keep the weight of the car less. The front part of the car looks very much aggressive, with a honeycomb grille, slim headlamps, and a V-shaped engine hood. The whole figure looks very much muscular and organic.
Talking about wheels, there are two 21 inch designs that you can pick from. There is also a small spoiler that helps in increasing the aerodynamics as well. The Aeroblade spoiler and the car diffuser help the DBS generate 397 pounds of downward force at the maximum speed. This is the highest number for a production, road-legal Aston Martin.
The inside of the car has a very much new layout, almost similar to the DB11. There will be leather studded everywhere, and it will bring a certain expectation of quality in this whole matter. There is a digital instrument cluster on the centre of the dashboard, that will control all your car functions. The centre display is a bit small though. There is also a new infotainment system, along with seats that look sporty. There is also a tiny trunk to store your luggage as well.
2019 Aston Martin DBS Price and Release Date
The pricing of the 2019 DBS is set to start at $304,995. The GT variant will be $10,000 costlier. It is being reported that the 2019 DBS will be starting getting delivered from the third quarter of 2018.
After Vanquish S, the 2019 DBS will again rule the roads. The car is a trademarked Aston Martin product, with new technologies, features and even better performance as well. This car definitely has the talent to be more successful in at a future date. We’ll just have to wait and see.
