Rumours suggesting there will be an exterior redesign have all –but confirmed as changes are sure to come. We’re hearing the bulk of a redesign will be seen on the outside with a new front-end and many enhanced design elements giving it more of a modern look and feel.
Other notable improvements over the 2017 models likely to be seen include easier access to the third row, more standard features in the base and lower models, more cargo space behind the rear seat, and customizable and intuitive dash controls. The 2018 Explorer Platinum model will see some significant upgrades, most notably in the interior with premium features standard.

The expected 2018 Ford Explorer engine specs include a very efficient 4-cylinder 280-hp, 3.5 litres 290-hp V6, and a 3.5 litre with a nearly 370-hp V6 option. The transmission will be standard in all models with a 6-speed automatic and selectable auto-manual transmission. Gas mileage will be slightly better ranging between 17-18 MPG/city and up to 25MPG/highway.
